Learning That Lasts A Lifetime

At Little Crickets Pre-school, we believe in nurturing a love of learning that lasts a

lifetime—and one of the ways we do this is through our regular visits to the local library. These outings are more than just a fun trip; they’re rich in opportunities for development, discovery, and delight!

Planting the seeds for a lifelong journey of learning and imagination.

1. Encouraging a Love for Books

Our library visits help children develop a natural love for books and reading. By exploring shelves filled with colourful stories, poems, and picture books, children start to associate reading with enjoyment and curiosity—not just education.

2. Supporting Early Literacy

Hearing stories read aloud by teachers and librarians boosts vocabulary, listening skills, and comprehension. It also introduces children to new words and storytelling styles, laying strong foundations for literacy development.

3. Building Confidence and Independence

Children learn how to choose their own books, respect shared spaces, and follow routines. Having the freedom to explore their interests builds a sense of autonomy and pride in their choices.

4. Expanding Knowledge and Imagination

Whether it’s a book about dinosaurs, space, or fairy tales, the library opens up a world of information and imagination. Children ask questions, make connections, and develop a broader understanding of the world around them.

5. Strengthening Community Connections

Visiting the library helps children feel a sense of belonging to the wider community. They begin to understand that learning doesn’t just happen in school—it’s something they can enjoy anywhere.

6. Inspiring Lifelong Habits

By making library visits part of our regular routine, we’re helping to instil habits that can last a lifetime. Children who grow up with positive experiences of libraries are more likely to return to them as they grow older.

Our library trips are always a highlight of the week—filled with wide-eyed wonder, storytelling magic, and quiet moments of discovery. We’re proud to be planting the seeds for a lifelong journey of learning and imagination.
